Narrowsburg’s railroad bridge beautified

NARROWSBURG, NY — These photos show the railroad bridge at the intersection of Bridge Street and Erie Avenue in Narrowsburg, which was recently spruced up through a beautification project supported by Sullivan Renaissance (SR). The effort brought together the Delaware Valley Job Corps (DVJC) students, who diligently removed rust and loose paint, then restored the surface of the bridge with fresh paint under the guidance of their instructor, Mike Mahoney. Narrowsburg’s SR intern, Maya Grady, put the finishing touches on the structure and the Narrowsburg Beautification Group (NBG) initiated and oversaw the project to its completion, providing refreshments for the DVJC students. For the second part of its SR project, the NBG will replace wooden benches in the town with more durable benches that can withstand wintery conditions. Throughout her summer internship, Grady will maintain the flowers at various town locations like the library and Veterans Park.

The photo above depicts some of the DVJC students who worked on the project. At right, members of the NBG proudly stand next to the newly painted bridge. From left are Geoff Gangel, Heidi Schneider, Wanda Gangel and Maya Grady.
